Not all who wander....

... Are lost.
This is a strange time for me. A transitional period which seems to have lasted quite awhile. I started my last year off on a completely different foot than I'm on now. My path has veered in a totally different direction. I know it's where I'm supposed to be, but alas it's bitter sweet isn't it? Ugh, I'm finding that most things are.
Around this time last year I was embarking on an exciting adventure in my career. I was taking in all the opportunity the film industry had to offer, and acting my little heart out. All the while prepping for school (acting) and in love with an amazing man. He was to move to Vancouver and we'd both be successful, and live happily ever after. That's what's supposed to happen, right?
Bitter sweet.
My love and I parted ways. Well,... Only half parted ways. He's still one of my very best friends. I still love him very much. As life goes on though, some people are better off apart. Some people need to be themselves, make mistakes, and grow,.. Alone. Doing the right thing for yourself is often a lonely road. Being young holds so many trials, and tribulations. It's difficult to navigate where you're going VS where the universe ultimately takes you. From what I gather it doesn't get any easier. All you can do is trust your on the right path, and if you're not that you'll be steered towards it.
Summer turned to fall. Something changed. Inside my heart and my head. As I still wanted to pursue acting, there had always been this hole that I couldn't fill. With anything. Working at restaurants, partying, and going to school just weren't cutting it. I needed to be creative, and shine in new ways. I just hadn't discovered how yet.

Donde esta Tequila!!?

Pedregal

My Mexican journey started with a 640am flight out of Vancouver B.C., Canada. It was early March, and in Vancouver that means rain, or snow, or both. It definitely always means cold though. If you're anything like me, 640am is upsetting, especially since I have to be there at 5, and obviously have to put makeup on and look half decent. It's a vacation and I'm single! Lets be honest. I literally trudged my way through the airports (layover in San Fran), until finally I can see the coast and my destination getting closer! So exciting! There's a magic about foreign places that encapsulates you once it sets in. You can be yourself and do whatever you want. It's freeing.

Hop off the plane, and it's a humble airport. No bells or whistles. Doesn't matter though, I'm in Cabo San Lucas!! My friends (They're locals) I was meeting pick me up in this big black SUV, immediately I think 'Kidnapped!' In a good way ;). I'm informed that our first stop is a whole in the wall, family owned joint that few know about named, Mariscos El Toro Guero. I'm stoked! We get there, and a double tequila i set in front of me. I cringe. As much as I like my booze, tequila makes pure gasoline look good. I'm stared at by everyone, (I'm the only white person) and I jauntily throw it back. WORST! As I'm trying to get my bearings, a loud cheer erupts from the people in the restaurant. I laugh whole heartedly. The rest of the day/night is still a blur. I did find sand in weird places though! Ha!

Thoughts have been provoked....

My name is Jessica. While I'm new to the world of blogging, I'm old friends with the written word. I've happily spent a vast amount of time reading, writing, and creating. It wasn't until recently I fully understood the power of blogging. Thanks to an insanely good talk that Amanda Palmer gave at the Muse In The Marketplace conference, and to my amazing best friend Calan Breckon. Calan is a powerful force, and I'm lucky to have him in my life. I HIGHLY recommend checking both these amazing people out. Their addresses are at the bottom. Inspirational, unapologetic, and insightful artists.
